2022 Lexus GX: Review, Trims, Specs, Price, New Interior Features, Exterior Design, and Specifications

The 2022 Lexus GX is offered in four trims: the base trim, the Premium, the Black Line Special Edition, and the Luxury. All trims share an identical drivetrain, with a 301-hp/329-lb-ft 4.6-liter V8 engine driving all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The standard GX 460 comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, triple-beam LED headlights, LED tail lights, roof rails, illuminated running boards, and heated/power-folding exterior mirrors. Inside, it has NuLuxe leatherette upholstery, ten-way electrically adjustable front seats with a memory setting for the driver, dual-zone climate control, and keyless start. The brand-new infotainment system has a 10.3-inch touchscreen display and features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi capability, navigation, SiriusXM, four USB ports, voice commands, and a nine-speaker audio system. Safety is taken care of by ten airbags, stability control, pre-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, a backup camera, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The GX 460 Premium adds only the Premium Package to these features, which comprises LED fog lights, a windshield-wiper de-icer, a rain sensor, three-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated second-row outboard seats.

The GX 460 Black Line Edition is based on the Premium trim but adds an appearance package that comes with unique black 18-inch alloy wheels, model-specific front and rear valances, and dark treatment for the grille surround, window surrounds, roof rails, and fog-light bezels. It comes only in three paint finishes: Starfire Pearl, Black Onyx, or Nori Green Pearl – the latter unique to this trim. Inside, it has unique open-pore ash-wood trim, black/gray leatherette upholstery, and a black headliner.

The GX 460 Luxury is quite a jump up in price and is distinguished by its 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension with auto-leveling rear air suspension, headlight washers, illuminated door sills, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a heated wood-and-leather steering wheel, power-folding and -reclining third-row seats, and a tonneau cover. It is also the only trim that can be optioned with a surround-view camera, a terrain monitor, and Crawl Control.
