New Steeda F-150 Thunder Edition is the performance pickup we want with 775 roaring horsepower.

While the electrified Ford F-150 Lightning is obviously quicker than the ICE-powered pickup that lended it that name – the SVT F-150 Lightning – many folks miss the old, street performance-focused pickup. Sure, you can build you own or buy some lifted performance truck like the F-150 Raptor, but what about the folks that want something turnkey and lightweight in the vein of the original muscle truck? Well, those folks are in luck, because the new 2022 Steeda F-150 Thunder Edition is all of those things and more.

The long-time aftermarket tuner and maker of performance parts calls the 2022 Steeda F-150 Thunder Edition a “Lightning on steroids,” which is probably a good way to describe a truck that has 775 horsepower and 685 pound-feet of torque on tap thanks to a modified 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Steeda adds a host of go-fast goodies to that venerable powerplant, including a Whipple Gen 5x Stage 2 Supercharger System that it helped develop, along with a unique calibration and an MBRP cat-back exhaust.

Steeda wanted to also make sure that the F-150 Thunder Edition was a capable corner carver – not just a straight-line maven – and thus, it turned its attention to the truck’s suspension as well. There, it added a Steeda/IHC suspension system that lowers the truck three inches in the front and five in the rear, dual-adjustable QA1 coilovers with four-inch OD springs, fully adjustable tubular upper control arms, a Delrin bushing kit, rear shock relocation kit, performance leaf spring addition, and adjustable traction bars.

The F-150 Thunder Edition looks the part as well, thanks to a host of exterior enhancements including a tonneau cover, Steeda Thunder graphic package, color-matched body parts, tinted windows, and Steeda’s Aero Package, which consists of rooftop and tailgate spoilers, as well as a hood scoop. The whole thing rolls on a set of Nitto NT420V LT305/40R22 tires wrapped around  gloss black 22×10-inch Velgen DDR VFT6 forged aluminum wheels.

There are plenty of optional upgrades as well, including AlphaRex black LED headlights, a Wilwood big brake kit, custom Katzkin leather, a Steeda cowl hood, ram air hood, and BedRug impact bed liner, to name a few. It’s certainly a nice alternative to the old SVT Lightning, and one that helps keep that truck’s original spirit while also taking it to the next level, performance-wise.
