Additional information will be provided in “due course,” says GMC and Buick brands vice president Duncan Aldred. “It is a big segment and represents about 15 percent of the entire retail industry and that’s been growing,” he added regarding other new EV truck players like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, and the upcoming Ram 1500 EV.
The new truck will share GM’s in-house developed Ultium battery and Ultium Drive technologies and should manage to achieve a 400-mile range on a single charge (the F-150 Lightning has a maximum range of 300 miles, FYI). We expect it will be built alongside the Hummers and Chevy’s truck at the Factory Zero assembly plant in Detroit, Michigan.
