The Cadillac Lyriq may be the luxury brand’s first electric vehicle but it certainly won’t be the last. In fact, it’s just the beginning of what will be an all-electric future starting in 2030. The countdown is underway for the entire ICE lineup. This phasing out will be a gradual process and it’ll get underway beginning in 2025, according to a new report from Automotive News.
Here’s the plan: the Cadillac XT4, XT5, and XT6 (the latter two share a platform) will all be retired in their current internal combustion form over the course of 2025 and 2026. These crossovers will be replaced with pure battery-electric models, though it’s too soon to know whether all three are due for successors. The Lyriq may no longer make one of them necessary.
